A prank to celebrate the first day back at school

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy

We’ve done this before.

Last night Mark and I scavenged Christmas trees that our neighbours had tossed to the curb. We silently, stealthily, dragged them home and set them up in a row on the front lawn.

Here is what it looked like this morning:

Mini forest

It was a challenge to get them all to stand up, considering we don’t actually have a lot of snow!

The girls thought our new mini forest was pretty funny. I just wish I had a couple more trees to round it out, but our arms were sore and we were tired from the effort. :)

Ha! I remember the first time you did this. I always think of you when I see discarded trees now! Did you hear about the guy in Kanata who “recycles” the trees by feeding them to his elks? Just throw all those in the back of your pickup truck and you can haul ’em out there. :)

Too funny! Do they all get picked up from your place or do you have to go re-distribute them before collection day?

Dani – I’ve heard of the Elk guy! He’s welcome to pick them up if he likes!

neeroc – When I did this last year with the same amount of trees they were picked up, no prob. :)

At least you have snow…We have green grass and spring flowers popping up. And discarded Xmas trees all along the sidewalks…very strange. and we’re only about 5 hours west of Ottawa…:)

Cute idea!
