It is what I have always wanted and I look forward to the day when I can fully quit my job and be with my dd.

lactation consultant…alas the amount of schooling I would need is daunting to me.

I am a stay-at-home mom, but would not call that my dream job…not sure what that says about me. Maybe I’m a little burnt out?

Making a difference in the lives of local Ottawa children. The ones who need the extra support and whose parents can not afford to sign them up for every activity. I would like to be involved in the required fundraising and program implementation.

Anyone hiring?

…to be a stay-at-home mom. Only a month left of school and a short summer wait for my babies and I will be!

But there are plenty of other things I would LOVE to do. I have always wanted to be a web designer or computer programer. I also would love to be an astronaut and go to space.

Being a teacher was my first dream job and I got to do it. I will miss it when I stay at home with my babies, but at least I get a good trade!

I SO wish that I had just plowed ahead, despite the bad advice that had prompted me to stop.

not a web designer… been there & done that.

Currently wrapping up my undergrad @ Carleton and starting my Masters next year, hope to work as a hospital (MSW) social worker –oncology, nephrology or ER. Will move x country if Ottawa won’t employ me (parlez-vous?). Nothing will stop me from working with a Master’s degree in a hospital. Nothing. If I decide not to do the Masters in Social Work, it’ll be Masters in Speech Language Pathology @ McGill. And no, I’m not young and idealistic. I spent too many years as a web designer and this is my second career and kids will need to be worked into this plan somehow.

That is the dream and the plan.

exactly what I am doing now, only with a bit more pay… ok to be paid to be a stay at home Mom would make the job a little more on the sweet side. Otherwise all is good.

In my next career I dream to be a photographer. Well, one that gets paid…

I’m so lucky. I already have my dream job. I have a fun and fabulous writing gig with SavvyMom.ca and am able to do it while I’m at home with the girls.

But but but…. I would love to supplement this with another fun writing job, one that gives me the creative freedom I so crave. Oh, and I’d like to write a children’s book. (I am working on that one! Shhh!)

To Scattered Mom…

…do go ahead and ditch that bad advice that you got out of your head. Go on and become a sign language interpreter.

But, mind you, as a teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, who sees interpreters quite frequently, I think being a sign language interpreter is a challening job.

Oops…I forgot to answer this question.

…to be honest, I’m not sure anymore.

Before I thought, being a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing would be. Now I’m there, I’m not so sure. I may try a different kind of teaching of the D/HH job to see if it suits me more.

In the past, I used to think it’d be awesome to fly around the world and evaluate just how good resorts and various tourist attractions are. And, now, I’m not so sure. I’m sure that most resorts are pretty much the same, even though I’ve only stayed at one when I was 13 years old. Plus, I find myself cornered with the desire to travel to different parts of the world and with the guilt of enabling airline companies with polluting the Earth!

…what I’m doing – ad sales for OTTAWA Magazine. Don’t be so surprised! I get to meet tons of business owners, and everybody’s story is different and interesting. I get to exercise my creative side, I have a great boss, and I am constantly learning and helping people. I heart my job. Because of my many contacts, I also get to ~connect~ people (you know, a la Tipping Point).

AND I get to work with 7-8 year old girls as a Brownie Leader, which is SO rewarding. Whenever you think you might like to try your hand at something new, volunteer! It’s an excellent way to test the waters without losing everything. And maybe volunteering will be rewarding enough to balance it all out :-D
