Update from on the road

Posted by andrea in: Misc. life

I felt I should update right away, in case someone was worrying about my being eaten by a raccoon (although it is much likely that I get eaten by a platoon of mosquitoes.)

I brought some basic breakfasty items with me. So I’m setting to make myelf a bit to eat. But I just realized that I forgot to bring:

bug spray/itch lotion
change of underwear
hairbrush

… and most importantly, I forgot to pick up milk so I can make myself some coffee. (I don’t care about not having underwear. Anyone who’s gone camping KNOWS you just turn it inside out and wear it anyway.) Coffee…. even though it was going to be INSTANT coffee I was going to need something to start my day. It’s the only stuff my mom has here. I hate instant coffee. Is this a foreshadowing of things to come?

Actually, you can get FOUR days out of your underwear. Forwards, Backwards, then inside out forwards, backwards.

Just in case you ever get lost in the wilderness for four days.

Gawd,

I’m embarrased to say that my morning coffee for the past several months – going on a year? – has been to heat up a giant mug of milk in the microwave, add 1.5 spoonsful of instant coffee and 2 brown sugar cubes. We did have an espresso/steamer machine that our friends gave us b/c they never ever used it it. When it broke I took it in to be repaired but it’s never really worked properly again, so I invented this concocotion b/c I purchased instant coffee after the blackout (thinking I could boil water on the bb-q and have instant coffee if the power ever went out again). When the espresso machine broke, I dipped into the instant coffee…sigh. However, it saves me tons of money b/c I no longer go out and buy a latte every morning, and when i start commuting to school next year in TO, I’ll just bring my own in the travel mug instead of stopping on the way :)

ps – love the living room! I did make a comment but it did not show up – must have clicked a wrong button!
