Summer vacation: last stop before home, Stowe VT
Posted by andrea tomkins in: travel talk
My family loved Stowe. I loved everything about it. This place was far up my alley. I loved the hotel we booked, right on the main strip. I loved the rolling hills and the greenery. I loved the cutie little shops and all the little galleries and original goods. There was a lot to discover in Stowe.
And guess what, there is GOOD COFFEE to be had in Stowe.
And it’s not that far! I was surprised to learn how close it is to Ottawa.
I’m seriously contemplating a return visit. But should we go back in the summer, fall or winter? I imagine all three of those seasons can be pretty spectacular.
While we were there we took the chairlift up for the mountain slide. (Which was a little on the pricey side, but very fun, and I don’t have a single pic of it.)
Sarah and I went up together:
We also rode the gondola up to the top.
The girls were thrilled. You don’t get to visit the clouds every day you know.
Guess what? Clouds are cold. It was freezing up there. The bench pictured below is on the very edge of a cliff. Somewhere in there, was a view.
You couldn’t see ten feet ahead of you, that’s how dense the clouds were up there.
There is something about those mountains that is positively enchanting.
It was a worthy last stop on our holiday, don’t you think?
