Oh yes.

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

I just realized it was exactly a year ago today that a bat attached itself to my pantleg.

I read the story and laughed, sorry, because my boyfriend had something similar happen to him in the comfort of his office in East Ottawa.

He sat at his desk working, and all of the sudden felt something in his pant leg. Thinking it was a bug of some sort, he reached down and sort of batted it. He realized it was a pretty big bug, and he didn’t want to squish it and get its guts on his pants. So he cupped it in his hand and waddled to the office bathroom. When he removed his pants, a dead mouse fell out.

A mouse crawled up his pants and died.

So, you know, rodents on pants – dead or alive – can happen anywhere.

I have never had a bat do that, but in Stanley Park, Vancouver I had a big, fat, grey squirrel climb my pant leg. It stopped about mid thigh when I screamed and then jumped onto the seat of the bike I was pushing and sat there for a ride. I could even feel it’s claws through my jeans.

It *is* freaky to have some furry wild THING on you when you’re expecting them to be afraid of you.
