a peek inside the fishbowl

meetings

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

Last night I went to a Meetup for Ottawa bloggers at the Clocktower.

Dani was there. It’s always good to see her smiling face, and her face was especially smiley last night*. I got to meet Kerry, Dani’s boss. (Hi Kerry! Sorry I got so tongue-tied when you asked me how things were going in the fishbowl. Because all of a sudden I didn’t know how to answer that. What did I say in response? Regardless, it was something awful and unwitty.) Chantal came out too, and I was very pleased to meet her in person. I’ve been reading her blog a relatively short time, but I’m here to say that she is just as funny in person as she is online.

I felt like I was chatting with old friends, and I guess, in a sense, I was. That’s why I love meeting fellow bloggers.

We sat at the end of a very long table, hooting with laughter for most of the evening. (Okay, maybe I was the only one hooting. I do have a loud laugh.) At one point we were talking about pregnancy tests. Chantal said “pee on a stick” about ten times (don’t worry, it was in the proper context), and there was a fellow beside our group who kept looking over at us nervously, no doubt wondering what the hell it was we were talking about.

A couple fellows took the time to come down to our end for a visit, which was cool. There was a Citizen reporter too. The conversations were all over the place, which I loved, because it satisfied The Geek Inside Me.

All in all, a good night!

* Just between you and me, did you know she’s pregnant?

Damn, I’m sorry I missed it! I knew I was forgetting something… but the lure of opening night for the latest Wellington watering hole was too great.

Congrats to Dani!

Sounds like lots of fun. Good to hear you ladies were all hooting and hollering. Nothing like shocking guys with the words ‘pee on a stick’.
