Project Porchlight Ottawa has been lighting up neighbourhoods across Ottawa. Over the past six weeks, over 100,000 CFL bulbs have been distributed door-to-door. We’re half way to our goal!
Come, celebrate this milestone with us! Join us in front of the Giant Tiger in the By-Ward Market on October 28th from noon to 2 p.m. There will be prizes and pumpkin decorating, a lively band, Hallowe’en activities for the kids, our fabulous electric bikes, and the mobile porch!
Why are we celebrating?
100,000 bulbs changed means:
* 12,000,000 lbs. of coal that won’t be burned to produce power. Cleaner air!
* 50,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas that won’t be pumped into the air
* $5 million of energy savings that can be used for other things in our communities
But, more importantly, we’re celebrating an awesome community effort, and our great volunteers from all across Ottawa who have proven over and over that we can all take action to save energy and protect the environment. It’s as easy as changing a light bulb!
