Thursday was a day about art

Emma went on a school trip to the National Gallery on Thursday.
Upon her return she told me about her two favourite exhibits:
- a giant baby head
- a giant quilt made out of red clothing. She was amazed: “there were red pants and red shirts and red socks and … and … red BO0BY COVERS!”
… which made me laugh. Sometimes we call underwear “bum covers,” but I’m not sure if I’ve ever referred to a bra as a bo0by cover.
Emma was disappointed that they didn’t see anything by the Group of Seven. I promised we’d go as a family sometime soon. I wouldn’t mind checking out that baby head either.
Sarah and I started a little project of our own in that morning. We each drew three pictures: one abstract, one portrait and one landscape. When Emma came home she added her three and we stuck them to the wall in the dining room.
Here’s a shot of our abstract pictures. It’s hard to tell who made what, isn’t it? I like how Sarah numbered her edition.

Sarah really got into the art gallery idea. She made tickets and a sign for the front door which read: “Welcome Dad from Sarah.”
All in all it was a pretty creative day. :)
