groceries

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

It was a crazy weekend (Westfest, more Westfest, but more about that later … I need to sort out my thoughts and a ton of photos), swimming and sun, and now we’re clean out of laundry and food.

It’s laundry day anyway, and I am gathering my wits about me and prepping for a shop.

groceries I am hoping to avoid the Superstore on Richmond. Going there is just so much work sometimes.

The other closest grocery store is Produce Depot on Carling. It’s a market-style grocery store and you can’t buy things like dishwasher detergent and toilet paper. But that’s ok.

See my receipt on the right there? Those are the kind of things I buy when I go to Produce. The fruits and veggies are excellent. The butcher’s not bad either.

I never know what I am going to pay over at Produce. I plop my purchases down on the counter and suddenly they’re totalled up and the cashier announces “that will be fourty-five-twenty-eight please” and that surprises me because I hardly ever do a small shop that’s less than eighty bucks anymore.

Produce Depot also carries Haveli baked veggie samosas that are to die for. It’s almost reason enough to make the trip.

Ha! It says “German” at the top of the receipt underneath the address. What do you think that means? Is that the name of the guy who served you or do you speak in German when you shop? :-)
