As many of you already know, Saunders Farm is a longtime Fishbowl patron. We’ve visited Saunders in every season possible and have always had a good time. When the girls were small we enjoyed daytime visits in the fall in the lead up to Halloween and as they got older we slowly ramped up the […]

The reason I first started this blog turned 19 yesterday. (!) Last night the eldest and I browsed a few past birthday–related posts here on the blog. I tell ya, celebrating 19 years is pretty different. Here’s how it went down. 1) I was up at my usual hour. When she finally woke up I begged […]

Well, considering that I’ve written about almost every other one of our youngest daughter’s birthdays, I couldn’t help but share a few details here…. keeping in mind, of course, that I don’t want to infringe on anyone’s privacy TOO much. :) In the past, we’ve hosted parties at home, sleepovers, pool parties, parties at Funhaven (TWICE), […]

I was bummed to miss the media preview of the newly renovated Canada Science and Technology Museum back in the fall and have been dying to pay a visit ever since to see what I’ve been missing. Happily, the opportunity to go presented itself earlier this week because the eldest was home for reading week […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
