findings

Posted by andrea in: Oh! Things!

Mark called at 8:30 this morning to let me know there was an estate sale going on at the top of our street.

My heart made a squishing sound. Estate sale! I’ve never been! And I’ve always wanted to see one in action. I was immediately seized with excitement. What’s more, I had just finished reading this description of the ultimate estate-sale find, like, EVER.

And so Sarah and I gathered our things and set out to explore the contents of someone’s household.

Unfortunately, I knew that I wouldn’t be making any big, household-altering purchases. I didn’t have enough cash. I was ill-prepared with a pocket full of change. Larger items were out of the question. *sigh*

We got there soon enough, and despite my lack of $$$ I was tingling. The sale wasn’t in the house. A lot things had been brought outdoors, much of it stored in their large garage.

What I would have bought had I had the cash:

– a wooden (what seemed hand-carved) pinocchio doll ($10)
– a collection of old handsaws ($4 each). Wouldn’t they look cool hung on the wall?

But this is all we bought:

… a welcome addition to our collection of wind up toys for the grand sum of 50 cents.

This is why one should always carry cash!
