Definitely not a love note

Posted by andrea in: Misc. life

Mark was up early this morning for an almost equally early tee-off time. As per custom, he was up before the alarm. I heard the shuffling and rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke again later at 7:45. The girls were still asleep.

Joy! I can make some coffee and have some quiet time to myself.

I rolled out of bed and plodded downstairs and into the kitchen. What’s this? A note from Mark was propped up on the kitchen window. Aww, how sweet! Just like the days in our early marriage.

I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. The writing slowly came into focus. And this is what I read.

I looked up. I hadn’t even noticed that the contents of part of our cupboard had been removed. But yes, there was the moving trail of small red ants, leading from the back door to the high cupboards over the stove…

The girls are awake. And now, instead of my peaceful coffee and thoughtfully articulate postings about camping, our trip to Toronto (in which I got to meet Marla and a host of other awesome bloggers) … will have to wait. The icing sugar has been quarantined. The molasses has been wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown out. There’s much more to do.

Ugh.
