Lor’ help me. I’m not ready.

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

Dani is picking me up tomorrow morning at 8:30 for a bit of a road trip. You see, we’re heading down to Toronto for the ARM Motherlode conference. She will be speechifying, along with a few of my other favourite bloggers. I’m there to lend support and to bask in their sunshine.

Besides, it is high time for a road trip of these proportions.

I am leaving my family at home, which I am not really sad about, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t be feeling a tiny bit sad later. We are both staying at Marla’s, who has written a long and humourous post about her preparations. I suggest you go over and read it. It is very Marla, and I mean that in a good way… :)

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Marla on a previous trip to Toronto. And I can safely say she is the best hostess, ever.

While I sit here typing and drinking coffee I am going over the things I need to do. The major one: do a load of handwashable laundry and get it on the line to dry ASAP. Why didn’t I do this earlier in the week? How can it be Thursday already? Answer: because I was doing other things, not directly related to this conference. SELFISH things like buying snacks for Friday night (they are for sharing, after the pillow fight and before we put Dani’s bra in the freezer) and shopping for new jeans. I’m a terrible person.

It is shaping up to be a great weekend, and I’m really excited. Perhaps some remote updates to the blog will be in order? Wouldn’t it be cool if the conference room had Wi-Fi? I will have the camera, so there will be plenty of photos when I get back.

Later skaters!

I am SO EXCITED!! I’m glad you’re pumped, too. I’m good with everything except the bra in the freezer. How did it end up being MY bra in the freezer anyhow?

My fine washables are drying in the basement as we speak. Please do me a favour when I pick you up tomorrow and ask me if I actually remembered to put them in my bags? (And yes, although it’s only a 36 hour visit, there will be more than one bag…)

Dani : I have you beat. I have underwear and other various wet laundry hanging all over the house. Fie on the person who drops in by “surprise” today.

hey bloggers,
I just got home from ARM and I don’t think there’s any Wi-Fi in the rooms. In fact, one of our presenters had overheads, a long lost technology since powerpoint emerged :)

I had a good time, lots of nice people seemed to be there and met some good contacts for my school stuff. Wish I could meet you there tomorrow night!

Andrea, it was so great to meet you at ARM! The only problem with conferences like that is I always wish there’s more time to pull away and really talk to the standout people, beyond all the conferenc-y things going on. I have no doubt we could have gone down some really interesting and fun roads! Ah well, back to living in the blogosphere!

And I can’t wait to see your photos!!
