DIY gifts part eight: flat photo magnets
Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy|File under crafty
This is the last DIY project for 2006. (You know, if you haven’t thought of a gift by now you might be in trouble!) This is another magnet craft. Awhile back I was on a magnet binge that had me buying supplies on a weekly basis. I’m glad to be able to share the madness with others. Â
This one is also super-easy.
You will need:
-Â magnet sheet (available at Michael’s and also at the dollar store, but the latter are flimsier and have a weaker magnet)
-Â old photograph
-Â if your magnet sheets aren’t peel n’stick you will need some glue (hey, you can use some of the silicone glue you bought for your marble magnets!)
All you need to do is affix your photo to the magnet sheet. And voila! You’re done.
Here’s one I made of Emma when she was a toddler, it’s not the best of the bunch, but at least it’ll give you the idea. It’s about 4″ tall :

I know you guys will have your own creative ideas about the kinds of photos you can use for this project. I always intended to create a set of action figures of our family… hmmm.
If you’re not keen on chopping up a photo, you can also use pictures from magazines, postage stamps, an index card with a favourite recipe written on it… whatever!
