Awhile ago I mentioned a project that involved some sawing. Well, it’s done! Finally.

… somewhat reminiscent of the “twin” series of artcards that I made while ago here, aren’t they? :)Â
I’m thinking of drilling a hole in the back and hanging them in a row vertically in my living room… which is reddish-hued.
These were fun to make. I have four more blank pieces of wood. And too many little 1″ squares to fill them with. Hmmm.

Those extra 1″ squares could be a fun project for a simple little tabletop–you could use a piece of table glass to cover the art so that it wouldn’t be damaged by coffee rings and the like.
I like the blocks. :)

I forgot to say that I really like the texture you have going on beneath the squares. How did you achieve it?

Thanks guys. Liss, the texture is achieved by mixing a bit of gel medium with the red paint. It makes it a solid gel, which I usually spread with a plastic knife. Underneath that is a few coats of paint: starting with brown, then dark purple, then the red with the gel, then a bit of gold.
