Found: old/new plates

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Oh! Things!

Found at the SallyAnn for $2.99 each.

The girls have claimed them as their own. I think Emma appreciates having a separate compartment for ketchup.

One of two new/old plates

And here’s a photo of the mark on the back.

I have been scrolling around eBay for other pieces in this design. Some of them are pretty sweet.

I really debated buying these dishes. You have to admit, the usefulness of having two divided dishes is a bit, well, it’s a bit limiting.

I went back and forth a few times, the last time I took them in my hands and walked around the store with them. I thought about it some more, and realized that if I didn’t buy them I would regret it.

I bought something else too. It’s a special little thing… I bought it for Sarah, and I hid it in a place I hope she’ll find it. I’ll show it to you tomorrow. :)

Excellent find! Excellent!I love them! I don’t even have to look – are the Lotte? (Not even going to check spelling – I’m in a rush). I think they’re called Grill Plates – we have some from various makers of diner dishes, and Josie loves them, for the same reasons. Excellent find! Excellent!

Okay – I had to click – they are! Fifteen years (oh – I mean twenty. Twenty-two I mean.) in antiques and it’s automatic. I love Lotteware, and if you decide to indulge in a new collection, let me know. I sometimes come across it and I don’t buy it because I don’t need another collection. But I’d love an excuse to buy it! They’re beautifully made, hold their value, and are very useful. A wise buy. And the grill plates? We use them often for snacks and wee lunches. You won’t regret it.

What an amazing find! I have definite SallyAnn jealousy right now.

You definitely did the right thing – there would have been regrets all round if you hadn’t picked them up!

They are amazing, aren’t they? I do like them. Marla – good on you for knowing. You have the knack for this stuff. I am yearning to go shopping with you some day.

What is it about Scandinavian stuff that is so darn sweet? As for indulging in a collection, I dunno, Mark is reading this and rolling his eyes. (But if you come across some cute cups and saucers or jelly glasses I wouldn’t refuse them.)

Hello – These are fondue plates from the ’60s – this was the time of beef fondue – the large part of the plate is for your cubed beef tenderloin – the smaller sections are for the different sauces for dipping – I have a full set of these that I bought in 1969!.
Cheers!
