bangs

I’m still not entirely sold on the bangs. We have two very opposing opinions going on at our house, and the jury is still very much out. Mark likes it. In fact, his eyes lit up a bit and he told me I looked like a whole new woman. (!)

Emma, on the other hand, doesn’t like it.

“I thought you liked new things,” I asked her.
“SOME new things, not ALL new things,” she said.

We were all up past our bedtimes last night. Each of the girls brought home a class scrapbook and we had to hunker down and make our pages. Truth be told, although Emma brought hers yesterday I’ve been in total denial about Sarah’s. We’ve had hers for about three weeks. (gulp)

In theory, this is a very nice idea. Each kid (with help of family) makes a double-spread about him/her. It’ll look great when it’s all done. But for some reason I just couldn’t bear to delve into my paper supplies and force myself to be arty. I couldn’t face scrolling through thousands upon thousands of photos to choose a handful for our layout. Oh yeah, and I hate scrapbooking. I love scrapbooks – when they’re well done they’re gorgeous, and I love the idea of someone documenting their family’s life that way. But personally, I find it immensely overwhelming. I can’t even face the idea of scrapbooking. (Yet here I am, with my photo-filled blog. How ironic huh?)

Thankfully, Mark saved the day and offered to help. He took care of the photos and I helped the girls do a very simple layout and short captions.

Now that the scrapbooks are out of the house I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Now I need to snap into action and clear up my backlog of work too.

Bangs make you look younger – in a good way ;)

I remember when my Mom came home with a perm when I was 5. It was the late 70’s and she thought she’d look stylin’ in a cute, short perm/fro to go with her green pant suit. I took one look at her new do and burst into tears. I ran into my room and slammed the door, refusing to talk to her because she was “no longer my Mom” because she looked so different. Change is hard for kids!

Oooo, I like the bangs!

I got a blog in the first place cuz I couldn’t face the scrapbook thing. Like you, I admire them when they’re done, but find them immensely intimidating when faced with a pile of pretty papers and fancy scissors and a blank page.

Love the hair! I noticed the highlights first, before I noticed the bangs.

Hope you guys are feeling better today.

I like the bangs, and your highlights too…are they new?

I envy your blog, it’s far cooler than any scrapbook could be. I just can’t free myself enough…I’m trying.

Love the new do. Hubby doesn’t even know what bangs are so he was no help when deciding if I should grow mine. So does that mean you’ll be straightening your hair every morning? :-)
I was wondering if you scrapbook since you’re so artsy-fartsy (in a good way). These days it’s the only form of creative expression for me.

unrelated – thanks for the Saavy mom article about the Lime Kiln Trail. I litterally drive by there every day and I live 2 minutes from there and I didn’t even know it existed!

Chantal: you’re welcome! :)

Thanks everyone for your kind comments re: my hair and artsyfartsiness. And Beachmama, the highlights aren’t new, just refreshed. :)

I can totally relate to your scrapbooking issues. I made one for our son when he was born. It looks great! But, now I’m wondering how I’m going to get one done for our daughter!!!!

I love the bangs – I’ve been debating this for ages (ages = years) and *still* haven’t made a decision.

I love the bangs. They’re casual and sophisticated at the same time.
