Tomorrow evening I’ll be attending the launch of a special campaign to raise money for Women’s Mental Health initiatives at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre.
I know that many of you are already big fans of Boomerang Kids and Rikochet Resale. Here’s something interesting you might want to consider. Next time you’re dropping off a bag o’stuff for consignment, ask about the “40back for The Royal” campaign.
The campaign will raise funds through the creation of charity consignment accounts at the five Ottawa-based Rikochet Resale and Boomerang Kids stores.
Here’s how it works. Clients who consign their clothing, accessories and children’s gear have the opportunity to donate the 40% commission on the sale of these items to the 40back campaign. (And receive tax receipts to boot.) Kind of a neat way to give, isn’t it? And the more you donate, the bigger the benefit to Women’s Mental Health here in Ottawa. Yay!
I’m really looking forward to the campaign launch tomorrow night. And I just got word that there are a handful of tickets left so it’s not too late to participate. It’s taking place in the Glebe-area home of Kellie Major (I actually went to school with Kellie) and her husband Warren Newberry. The evening will include a tour of their beautiful home (which was totally rebuilt after a big fire), presentations by speakers on women’s mental health, and food and wine by Tulips and Maple.
You can get the details about the event and buy tickets (or make a donation!) here.
