The photo hunt: a great activity for kids! (The first batch of photos)

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy

We were at my in-laws yesterday, sitting around after dinner outside as the sun was about to set. The adults were chatting and the kids were glued to their respective devices so I decided to issue the girls a challenge. The mission: to submit ten great photos… outdoors, no flash, no filters. I promised to upload their ten best (as chosen by them) to the blog. The girls really seemed to enjoy themselves, and it turned out to be a really nice way to keep them busy.

So, as promised, this is the first batch of 10, taken by the eldest using her iPod touch. (I kind of which we’d brought the Samsung. It would have been much better for this kind of thing.)

You can read the titles if you click on or mouseover the photo:

Shadow bouncing

come up with your own title...

Flowers and blue sky

once shining, now worn and tarnished

Looking up at the sky. (maybe a bird)

Can't find the end. Who said there's even a beginning?

stop and smell the roses

cloudy sunset

Don't they look lonely? They need a nice pair of feet to love them.

A little sun for when it gets too dark.

I do love the perspective that kids bring to the table when they’re behind the camera, don’t you?

My 11 year old daughter just joined the 4H photography club and I’m helping out. It’s been so much fun. We just did a photo walk with them on Friday night. A dozen kids with instructions to take pictures in the same spots, so interesting to see the different perspectives they’ve come back with.

I love this idea! I can see some great home school projects with the boys! Mostly they still take photos too close and there are usually fingers in the shots….but you know….one day!
