A different kind of blog post

Handwriting a blog post today. Let's just call it brain exercise.

Interesting. I read somewhere that the physical act of writing keeps the left side of your brain occupied (if you’re right handed) – thus preventing it from editing. Apparently this frees up the right side for maximum, unfettered creativity. Can’t wait to see what other blog posts come out of it!

I believe this to be true. I used to write all of my blog posts out longhand, but I stopped doing this because it’s faster just to write them straight out on the computer. That being said, I don’t think I’ve done myself any favours. Faster is not necessarily better!

Many of my blog posts start out handwritten in some form. I carry a notebook with me and write out ideas when they come to me and sometimes they just sit in my book until I am ready to do more with them. They have lots of cross outs and rewrites and undergo further work when I put keyboard to screen. I enjoy both forms of writing.

While I am no stranger to hand writing all of my ideas, drafts, and posts, the concept of posting the picture of the actual handwritten ‘post’ is genius! Kudos.

(Though I would actually write it out in the caption to make sure it was legible for the visually impaired, and to ensure google can ‘read’ it for SEO power.)
