Mother’s Day 2011

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Oh! Things!|Ottawa

I decided that I wanted to log – photographically – my Mother’s Day highlights this year.

These are the things that made this day great for me, starting from when I woke up. You can click on the images for a bit of extra info about what’s in them.

I’m sure you’ll be able to recognize that my favourite kind of day includes great food, sunny outdoor spaces, and time to read. :)

I realize now that I forgot to take a photo of my oft-refilled glass of wine and our lovely dinner, which I didn’t have to make!

This was a particularly nice Mother’s Day, and it was relatively gift-free. My choice. The girls bought me a magazine and a giant peanut-butter cup from Truffle Treasures (you haven’t lived until you’ve tried one), and Mark and the girls picked out some fresh herbs and a couple of new containers (pictured above), but that was it. It was good. And somehow I feel lighter today.

That’s lovely! I had that kind of Mother’s Day, too – lots of good food, nice walks outside, downtime with my girls and reading – and spent some time with my mum (and dad and brother). Just right.

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
