Dinner: seemed promising, but was ultimately a big failure

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Recipes and Food

The menu:

Simple, right?

Hearty and healthy right?

Kid-friendly and guaranteed to satisfy, right?

Well, no.

Emma, who had previously exhorted her love of meatloaf decided she didn’t like this one. (Sorry Nancy.) Neither child liked the cauliflower. Only Emma ate the potatoes.

Sarah ate nothing but raw cherry tomatoes.

On the other hand, Mark and I really enjoyed everything. IMHO the meatloaf recipe was fantastic, and the cauliflower was AMAZING. But, neither recipe is a keeper because when half the family doesn’t eat it, it is relegated to the back of the recipe file… to be dug out again in case the child has grown a new tongue.

Suffice it to say, the chef was not very pleased at the outcome.

I am sorry too, cause that meatloaf is a huge hit in our house! Now those ‘mock’ potatoes may warrant a try over here…yum!!

Heck, at our house when you can get a full half of the family to eat it, you’ve got a keeper! I’ll be trying both of those recipes in the near future – thanks!

If my parents would have only made food all of us kids liked, we would have had meals of popcorn and ketchup.
