cover girl – [updated]

>Subject: You’re famous

Until the emails (and phone calls!) started coming in yesterday I had no idea that the article was actually going to be on the front page. There was no way I was going to let another minute go by without seeing it for myself. Sarah and I biked down to the pharmacy to pick up a copy. I showed her the photo. She laughed and laughed. I’m still a bit unsure about the photo (is that really me?), but I do know one thing. When I set out to start this blog back in 1999, I never thought it would come to this.

Anyway, yes. That’s me. And if you’ve arrived here via the article, welcome.

I feel a bit silly at the moment, like I’ve just opened the door wide open and am welcoming 20,000 strangers  into my kitchen, but I think the feeling will pass soon enough…

Finally, here is the text of the article:

One ticket to see Feist in Ottawa

By andrea tomkins in Ottawa

Natalie R., a local Fishbowl reader, just sent me this note:

I have 2 tickets to see Feist Saturday night. I’d really like to go but have canvassed all my friends and no one can. So I’m either going to sell the tickets which would be a shame or find someone to go with. This is where I’m hoping you can help…

Any takers? Leave a comment and I’ll connect you. The concert is at the NAC. They’re orchestra seats and she’ll sell one for $50. [Shoot, now I’m going to have this song in my head…]

Hula hooping drop in – this Friday

By andrea tomkins in - Westboro

I’m going to go to the Hoop Jam at Dovercourt tomorrow night. Anyone care to join me? (It’s free!)

I am going to say this right up front: I plan on looking absolutely ridiculous. I’ve tried this before. I had (wrongly) assumed my fabulously generous waist:hip ratio would be of benefit. I thought it was going to be easy-peasy! Ha ha! I was surprised to discover that hooping was harder than I remembered it. But it’s really fun (trust me on this), and it will give you a really good workout. (It’s supposed to be really good for your core.)

It’s this Friday (October 24), from 18:00 – 19:30 in the Assembly Hall at Dovercourt

This from their website:

Drop in to practice your hoop moves, groove to the tunes, meet other hoopers, or maybe try it for the first time! Bring your own hoop, or use one of ours.*

*Don’t bring your kid’s dollar store plastic hoop! If you don’t have your own fitness hoop do use one of Dovercourt’s. They’re larger and heavier … made especially for grown-ups who have fond memories of hula hooping as eight-year olds. ;)

So who’s with me? Turtlehead? BeachMama? Miss Vicky? Veg? I promise it will be fun!
