What to feed a sick kid

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

Starve a fever? Feed a fever? I have no clue, but I think food for sick kiddies should be healthy and simple, with some sweetness so they can get some energy out of the sugar. That is, if they even feel like eating.

That’s why we had pancakes for lunch yesterday, and again for breakfast today.

Strawberry pancakes

Emma is still at home with me. Her fever burns on and off. Tomorrow is Emma and Sarah’s last day of school. What a time to be sick.

Now I wish I had some fresh strawberries so I could make yummy pancakes like that.

Sorry the sickies have hit your house. My neighbours kids are going through the same fever that you probobly have in your house. Apparently it is circulating right now and it is just a virus. It seems to pass after three or four days.

What?! She’s not feeling better after those glorious pancakes? They look delish!
The Pea was sick last week and she’s still not 100%. Apparently it was croup — fever, cough and she lost her voice but she still had plenty of energy but no appetite. I try to “encourage” her to eat b/c I think she can’t get better without nourishment but sometimes I have to back off b/c then I sound like my mom. :-)

VV- they were delish, but Sarah actually decided she prefers her strawberries mashed up in jam or fresh… not heated up in a pancake. (!)

I also like making pancakes with sliced bananas on top. Even Sarah likes those ones. :)
