Quickly written before my tea goes cold

Posted by andrea in: Misc. life

Oh my. It’s Sunday and it’s been a terribly busy weekend. And it’s not even over.

Here I am still in my pyjamas.

I am feeling a little bent out of shape this morning. A combination of fatigue and a case of the sniffles. I’ve had a runny nose for weeks, and I’m wondering if it’s some kind of tortuous cold or that I’ve suddenly developed allergies. Mark informs me that ragweed is in full force.

Friday: I had an interview for an article I’m writing for Ottawa Interiors magazine… a profile of a lovely home on the outskirts of Ottawa. It’s positively dreamy. The owners designed the place themselves. Everything about it is gorgeous. And the couple I talked to were gracious and open. It was a happy experience all-around.

I hesitate to post details and photos. I don’t want to scoop myself! I’ll be writing the article in the next couple of days.

Friday night the four of us went to Super-Ex. It was a bit of an experiment. Normally we’d go during the day. I wondered if we were setting ourselves up for a bad situation… going in the few hours before their bedtime. But it was great. The girls were well-behaved. No one got lost/whiplash/excessively sticky/pummeled by a goat or a horse. The hot afternoon gave way to cool evening. It was a sight to behold.

I have a lot of photos to post. Will do that soonish.

I have a *thing* with carnivals and fairs. Everything about them is photogenic: the rides, the concessions. Everything. It’s a blur of crazy colour and lights. I love the smell of the fair too. I think it’s all that burnt sugar. If I was more confident with my camera (or perhaps a super-zoom would solve my problem) I would take photos of the carnies as well. Man, some of those people look really rough. There are stories to tell there, I’m sure.

Mark and I took about 130 photos, and pared them down to about 80. Ah, the beauty of digital!

This one is a subject that’s a perennial favourite of mine:

And this one, taken by Mark, is in a larger format and is best accommodated by a pop up. Click here to view.
