Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Swaps

Right? – old stuff: Packages should have all been mailed. The deadline for mailing was Saturday June 24. Let us know if you’ve mailed […]

I love getting sweet mail!

There was a distinctively heavy thud behind the front door. That’s when I knew my candy swap package had arrived. Yippee! And here it is: There are a few items missing from the photo, but rest assured this was an excellent stash. Fudge, peanut brittle, chocolate-covered slabs of peanut butter, delicious toffee-type things … one […]

Candy Swap: my answers

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Swaps

1) When I was a kid, Halloween was all about: a) collecting as much candy as I could – I figured out early on that pillow cases were the ideal Candy Carrier. Sturdy and large. Other than built-in handles … what more can you ask for? We’d do a round of houses, dump the goods […]

  • Liz Dick: Just came across this forum now. Funny after all these years I've never seen it. Rummoli has been a family favourite of ours for four generations.

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (18) and Sarah (16). I am the managing editor of our community newspaper, the Kitchissippi Times. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger, and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999... which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.

If you'd like to contact me, please use this form. If you're so inclined, you can read more about me here. Thank you for visiting!
