The school bus is here,
but you are not getting off,
Lost child, where are you?

Humour me and share your first day of school haiku. Then bring me a beer.

It’s the first day of schooooool!
I can’t believe this day is here.
Do my girls look great or what?
Last night we sharpened pencils, unwrapped erasers, stuck a label on everything that needed one, and debated whether or not we should have laundered last year’s pencil case (we didn’t).
The alarm clock didn’t go off this morning (um, maybe because I set it to 6:30 PM) and so we overslept, but not by too much. I made the girls lunches.
By special request:
Emma: Ham and mayo on whole wheat, a banana, some pineapple, a coconut drink, and some apple/raisin breakfast pita, seaweed snacks
Sarah: Rice balls wrapped with seaweed, cold crab stick, pineapple, banana, coconut drink
Related: I think I hit up a good lunch solution for myself … but more on the later!
As for today, Mark and I are running a few errands around town: birdseed, bulk barn… possibly a new chandelier for the dining room (because mummy has hit a breaking point). Maybe we’ll have a nice lunch too?
Ah, it’s good to be back.
Good golly. It’s not even dinner time and I have already eaten an unholy amount of this chickpea salad … even though I forgot to add the ginger and used green onion instead of the red (I ran out!) and didn’t add cilantro (ditto!).
And think of the fibre! Woot!

eta: AND I just realized I read the recipe wrong! I didn’t cook the onion/garlic, and just threw everything together in a big bowl. Haha.
