Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Recipes and Food

*Now with recipe costs! Scroll to the end of this post for the breakdown. I was at the grocery store the other day and I tweeted about my all time favourite granola and received this response: @missfish clearly you haven’t tried my homemade maple pecan granola! Yummy and way less expensive per serving :) — […]

A decadent cinnamon bun recipe for you!

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Misc. life|Recipes and Food

My MIL has been making these cinnamon buns for holiday breakfasts as long as I can remember. I cannot describe how good they are – warm, sweet, gooey – the perfect sugar rush to go with a hot cup of coffee when you need it most. I was the one who was tasked to make […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (18) and Sarah (16). I am the managing editor of our community newspaper, the Kitchissippi Times. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger, and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999... which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
