Artist trading cards: we’re on a roll folks!

Posted by andrea tomkins in: - Mail art|File under crafty|Misc. life

ATC series: paper quilt twinsAs I mentioned before, I’ve been suffering a serious dry spell of creativity.

The question du jour remains the same: where do I find the drive to create as well as the inspiration I need to move forward?

For me it almost always begins with paper.

I sat down the other night and snipped dozens and dozens of small squares out of paper scraps I had previously deemed too pretty to throw out. Hey, they came in handy didn’t they?

I also painted some red and gold backgrounds. And the two came magically together. That’s it over there ->

I don’t think I’m out of the hole quite yet. But for now I’ve given up drawing and will try to focus more on simple collage, fun painting techiques and pairings of colour.

I flipped through the pages of my sketchbook. My favourites are still the Norval doodles and sketches of insects (here’s a bedbug). This is one I made this time last year. It also remains one of my all-time faves.

Hmmm. Maybe inspiration can be found somewhere after all?

Pssst! The larger version link doesn’t work because you’re bogarting the big art pictures. ;)

It’s great to see your work again.

Okaaaay. I removed the link, now why is it that people who aren’t signed in don’t get a bigger sized version when they click through?

p.s. Thanks Zh! :)

Those are really cool trading cards. I really like the way they flow, lots of colour and lots of pretty paper.

Very pretty and interesting! Forgive the ignorant newbie question, what does one do with Artist Trading Cards?

Thanks Robin! And Miche, ATCs are traded with other artists! It’s very addictive. I’ve written about it before here:

Oh Andrea, that does sound like a brilliant and highly addictive thing with which to be involved! I’m glad you enjoy it so much! (It’s always nice to have a focus or purpose to be creative.)
