The “bookshelf”

Posted by andrea in: Oh! Things!

So here is a pic of the new “bookshelf” in Sarah’s room. Notice the use of quotation marks around the word “bookshelf.” Since it’s daring purchase I have learned that it is probably not a “bookshelf” at all.

Mark says it’s a kitchen cupboard.

He should know. He’s been helping someone assemble an Ikea kitchen since last weekend (imagine what a nightmare that is… 100s of pieces, bad instructions and one allen key!) and recognized the piece as part of the set. And he’s right.

So here it is: Sarah’s bedroom that now includes a kitchen cupboard. It’s tucked in behind the foot of the bed.

The bedroom paint job is leftover from when Emma was born. But I’m gearing up to repaint it as soon as some better weather comes along. We’ve already decided on some abstract orange trees. :)

The bedrooms are a challenge to furnish. We live in a 1.5 storey home, which means the upstairs ceilings are wonderfully sloped in spots. It gives our home a character that I love, but on the other hand it makes it impossible to furnish or decorate as fully as I would like.

I wonder what the interior or the house looked like in 1942 when it was originally built?
