I’m still not entirely sold on the bangs. We have two very opposing opinions going on at our house, and the jury is still very much out. Mark likes it. In fact, his eyes lit up a bit and he told me I looked like a whole new woman. (!)
Emma, on the other hand, doesn’t like it.
“I thought you liked new things,” I asked her.
“SOME new things, not ALL new things,” she said.
We were all up past our bedtimes last night. Each of the girls brought home a class scrapbook and we had to hunker down and make our pages. Truth be told, although Emma brought hers yesterday I’ve been in total denial about Sarah’s. We’ve had hers for about three weeks. (gulp)
In theory, this is a very nice idea. Each kid (with help of family) makes a double-spread about him/her. It’ll look great when it’s all done. But for some reason I just couldn’t bear to delve into my paper supplies and force myself to be arty. I couldn’t face scrolling through thousands upon thousands of photos to choose a handful for our layout. Oh yeah, and I hate scrapbooking. I love scrapbooks – when they’re well done they’re gorgeous, and I love the idea of someone documenting their family’s life that way. But personally, I find it immensely overwhelming. I can’t even face the idea of scrapbooking. (Yet here I am, with my photo-filled blog. How ironic huh?)
Thankfully, Mark saved the day and offered to help. He took care of the photos and I helped the girls do a very simple layout and short captions.
Now that the scrapbooks are out of the house I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Now I need to snap into action and clear up my backlog of work too.
Last night we played Bataclan. Sarah mostly likes stacking the dice.

There was a cold season survivial guide published in the Saturday Ottawa Citizen. It had a few interesing tidbits, and it reminded me that I wanted to try garlic supplements. I was at the Superstore on Sunday morning and decided to pick some up. They’ve done studies that show garlic has amazing immune boosting properties. Just what I need! Sadly, I’ve been burping garlic ever since. That’s not what I need.
The whole family is sick. We all have a cold. Happily, Emma didn’t throw up after her episode yesterday. In fact, she was her old self in no time. Kids are amazing that way.
I couldn’t wait for them to get to bed last night. I was so exhausted. Mark and I have been camping out in front of the TV, watching the first season of Heroes on DVD. Gawd I love that show.
I spent the whole night coughing my head off. It’s a horrible, dry, hacking cough. I sound like a Great Dane in a train tunnel. I woke up this morning, packed the girls lunches, and went back to bed only to wake up in time to run to the hair salon for a long overdue trim & colour. I got bangs, which is something new for me.
Okay. I have got to stop rambling. Back to work. But first, I am heading upstairs for a serious gargle.
I was getting out of the shower. What’s that sound? I turned the fan off for a second to listen. It was Emma, calling me sadly, “Mummy, I’m throwing up!”
So, dripping wet and wrapped in nothing but a towel, I ran downstairs to find her mid-barf in the living room. I rushed her to the bathroom, positioned her over the toilet, tied her hair back, and wiped her hands with a towel.
The phone rang as I was wiping up the mess. I noticed the name and number on the call display. It was one of my clients with news of a potentially excellent screenwriting gig. I couldn’t bring myself pick up the phone. How could I? I was half-n@ked, mopping up vomit, while my kid was moaning and crying in the bathroom.Â
But I guess that’s the life of a WAHM, huh?
The first batch of laundry is in. Gack.
ETA: I just checked on Emma. She’s going to be okay, but the living room smells like vomitrotiouscarpetcleaner. :(
