As I approach my 1000th post here at the Fishbowl (and that doesn’t include the posts in my Very Old Archives, nor the posts came before that and aren’t actually online anymore) I realize I still have lots to talk about. And I don’t forsee myself running out of things to say anytime soon. But I have a question for ya’ll… what do you like to read here? What kinds of posts do you enjoy the most?
It’s not like I’m planning on tailoring my content, and I will probably continue just being me, but I’m curious! I would love to hear what you think. Thanks in advance yo.

Mark bought Mr. Peanut home as a Christmas gift for me last year.
I knew (he has since confessed as much) he bought it because he liked it, not because it would make a really nice gift for his loving wife.
At first I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this cast iron peanut man overseeing a peanut-shaped cast iron dish. I thought he would make a good bird feeder, but didn’t want him to weather. He held peanuts, but that wasn’t right either.
It wasn’t until he assumed the role of Supreme Holder of Stray Marbles that he finally made himself at home. He now sits on the window between the two bookshelves in our living room.
And now I think he’s pretty cool.
I find it very difficult to throw fortune-cookie fortunes away. I am not sure why, exactly. But I think they serve as good reminders for us, don’t you think?
Here are some of the ones I have:
“Others admire your caring qualities”
“Whether you choose love or fame, you’ll be able to handle either or both.”
“You have an unusually magnetic personality.”
“Your smile will brighten someone’s day.”
“You are a person of culture.”
“Now is the time to try something new.”
And my personal favourite:
“You like Chinese food.”
I should start re-reading old fortunes more often. They’re inspirational!
The glass (pictured above) was given to me by my mother. It’s old. It sat forlornly on my shelf for awhile, and it wasn’t until I filled it with fortunes that it perked up a bit.
You’ll have to click to enlarge (there are a few other annotations over there), you’ll see the other thing it holds is a couple of old wood inkpens that my mother used when she was a schoolgirl.
Next up on the tour: Mr. Peanut. I think you’ll get a kick out of this one. ;)
