a peek inside the fishbowl

I’m quite unhappy with the weather today. It’s cold and snowy and absolutely disgusting. I’m trying hard leave the white stuff behind today… at least mentally.

Want to know what’s making me happy today? The bare lilac branches I clipped at Easter are getting greener and greener. It’s very pretty. They started out like this:

Easter tree decorations

I declare that the Easter tree is staying up until the snow melts.

And then there was THIS:

And the branches are getting greener!

And now this! Actual teeny lilacs starting to bud!

I’m very pleased with my arrangement, and it gives me a happy feeling every time I see it.

Now, what to do with that snow piling up on our driveway… ???

Someone we know has a birthday

By andrea tomkins in Misc. life

Selfie by S. What can I tell you about this girl, other than the fact that she is a kindhearted soul who makes me laugh,
is generous and kind and
has her own style
and loves to write
and draw
and sing
and peel off a funny rhyme
and run and jump
make lemonade in the summer
and hot chocolate in the winter
and likes to barrel down steep hills when skiing
and walk barefoot in the sand
and catch fireflies
and loves warm socks
and warm hugs
and fuzzy blankets
and cupcakes
and sushi
and most of what mum cooks for dinner
and what else?

Oh yes, this girl is TWELVE today!

As some of you already know, I’ve been working with Sobeys on a few things over the past little while. I wanted to let you all know about a fab little contest that just launched today. If you’re on Pinterest and love good food, you will definitely find this interesting, or PINTERESTING. ;)

Anyone who:

(a) creates a pinboard and
(b) repins any 4 pins from Sobeys Pinterest page and tags their repins with #LoveSobeys and
(c) posts a comment on this blog post over on the Sobeys Love Food blog

…is entered to win one of 12, $100 Sobeys gift cards. EASY PEASY.

What would you do with the money if you won? Me: I think I’d use it host a Japanese-themed meal for the family, just for fun. These are a few pins from my Japanese-inspired pinboard.
