I have work coming out of my ears today, so this is just a quickie note to remind you:
- The draw for the NAC tickets is today at noon. Enter here.
- I will also be doing the draw for my kitchen scale. Enter here.
- Tthe draw for a family photo session has been extended because the donation system has been offline for the past few days.
- I have two (possibly three !) giveaways coming up. And they are Tony the Tiger GRrrrrrEAT. So do check back!
Day two was about giving to others, and given our recent food-related experiences (i.e. tracking/measuring/logging nearly a week’s worth of meals) we decided to buy school lunches for 50 children from the World Vision gift catalogue. A fitting tribute to the story that never was! :)
Day three had to be simple as Emma had a party to attend in the evening, so we added candy canes to our hot chocolate wrote out our Christmas wish lists. Here’s a blurry view of part of mine:

I will tap out the lists later. They’re cute.
Earlier that the day I created two video messages via Sympatico’s Magic Santa website, so we watched those too. It’s free, and quite well done, and Sympatico.ca donates $0.25 for every video made (up to $50,000) to Kids Help Phone. The kids are a bit too old for it now, but I think they appreciated the fun of it anyway:

Day four was about getting our Christmas tree, which makes Christmas seem all the closer now. We bought it at Ikea, where we’ve been getting our tree for the past few years. Amazingly enough, although we can never make an accurate assessment about their shape because they’re so tightly bound, they somehow always end up being pretty close to perfect.

Today is day five and we have something pretty cool in store that I know the girls will love. More about that later.

This post is part of our 2010 Family Advent, a.k.a 25 Days of Christmas. You can read more about that here.
It’s a happy time that reminds me of days gone by.
We tool around in circles. My hands are cold and my feet ache. There’s a particular smell in the air – what is it – exhaust? ice? Sounds of laughter, blades carving the ice, a local radio station blaring over tinny speakers fills the cavernous room. The whistle blows; time to change direction.
