I’m not sure how to structure this post because I want to cover a few things about my recent bloggy/media jaunt weekend in Toronto and open up a discussion about local food. The two are related in kind of an interesting way, so if you’re keen, grab a coffee and read on!

After our sessions on Sunday I spent a few hours walking around the city. (In fact, I walked from the Eaton’s Centre all the way up to the Pottery Barn Kids on Bloor Street where I bought a pricey alarm clock that doesn’t seem to work. Gah.)
On the walk back I was hot and tired and in desperate need of a shaded park bench away from the crowds. I happened upon the park behind Collage Park. I bought a drink and a light lunch happily sat myself down under a tree.
Suddenly there was a flutter in the branches above me. I looked up into the tree under which I was sitting to see the tail feathers of a big bird. My first thought was that it was a gull. But how could it be a gull? They don’t perch in trees. I leaned forward and saw this:
Let’s zoom in on that, shall we?

He disappeared as quickly as he had arrived.
He gave a shriek and was gone. Pigeons and gulls scattered to the wind. I watched the ruckus unfold, happy to have spied some wildlife in the big city.

I saw this on local artist Alison Fowler’s website and had to share it with you.
Someone has stolen one of her paintings. Here it is:

Alison has a studio in West Wellington, upstairs from Chick Pea Boutique on Wellington Street.
Alison was upstairs in the studio when the painting was stolen. She heard her door open but no one came upstairs. She went down to check to see what was going on when she suddenly realized the painting was gone.
She’s filed a police report and it now looks like she might have to start bolting her paintings to the wall.
What’s worse, this isn’t the only time this has happened.
I feel sad for Alison, but strangely, also for the person who stole it. Who does such a thing? What on earth were they thinking? Don’t they know that Karma’s a bitch?
