About that reusable container program at Bulk Barn

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Yaktivism

I had the chance to try out the new reusable container program at Bulk Barn this past weekend. I first heard about it about a month ago. The cashier popped a flyer about it in my bag and I was intrigued, for a few reasons: 1) We use an awful lot of plastic when we […]

Hello Fishies! This is the third year I’ve posted the Fishbowl Patron Gift Guide. I do it for a couple of reasons: (a) to show my patrons a bit of extra love. They are all people who are so passionate about what they do, and they help make Ottawa a wonderful place to live. I […]

Ohhh my pretties. The Village Quire is a new Fishbowl patron and let me tell you, I’m pretty excited about it. If you know me AT ALL you know that I just adore paper and paper-related goods. Stationary, pretty wrapping paper, office supplies, they made me weak in the knees. The Village Quire is the […]

This was the scene when the other night when I played a solo game of Bananagrams: As soon as Piper saw me on the floor she immediately picked up her favourite “foxy” and decided she wanted to play something too. (In fact it quickly escalated to THIS.) Anyway, that is neither here nor there. This […]

We have a winner! Thanks for your entries everyone! Regular readers already know how much my family enjoys Saunders Farm. Saunders has been a Fishbowl patron for a few years but our relationship actually goes farther back. We’ve been visiting Saunders since my youngest was a babe-in-arms. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
