It’s launch day for the Know More, Do More campaign (I wrote about it earlier this week). You can read about it in today’s Citizen too.
Emma and I will be at Dovercourt today (Saturday) at 1:00 p.m. And you’re invited.
- Bring your kids and come chat with health experts, enjoy some healthy snacks, get the kids participating in some fun activities, and pick up your own Healthy Active Living Tip Jar.
- Can’t come? No prob. There are lots of other ways to get involved in this initiative. Sign up for prizes on the website, join the Facebook group or follow our Twitter feed.
We need your to help make this very important campaign a success, so please spread the word. This is our call to action. This is our opportunity to give our children give the best start we can, educate ourselves, our children, and establish healthy habits to help make our families stronger and healthier. So let’s get down to it, shall we?
We’re not churchgoing folk, but Easter is one of my favourite times of the year. I can’t believe it’s just around the corner.
I love our Easter traditions.
For awhile we successfully convinced our children that the wild rabbits in our neighborhood were part of an army of spies for the Easter bunny, who watched children to see if they’ve been good all year. (Whatever works, right??) Emma has cottoned on, but I’m not so sure about Sarah. Long ears for better hearing, brown fur for camouflage … make sense to me too. :)
Creating family traditions is one of of the most fun things about being a parent. We are able to break away from some our own family traditions and create some new ones.
Another Easter tradition of ours (and I know I have written about it before – but I truly love it) is that all of our plush rabbits – big and small – magically convene in the living room on Easter morning to welcome two new bunnies to our ever-expanding bunny family. It’s a miracle, and it happens every year. It’s amazing how much they’ve multiplied over the years.
I want to add to this tradition by making Easter bunny prints on the floor this year, using a template of bunny feet and a dusting of cocoa powder. Just for fun.
We also like to dye eggs, bring branches from the outdoors for decorating, and eat lots of chocolate. It can be a lot of work sometimes (ok, maybe not the part about the chocolate) but it makes me so happy.
What are your Easter traditions?
First, a reminder. The Know More Do More campaign kickoff is this Saturday! Woot! I just did my first media interview about it. I am excited that we are gathering some steam, although I did goof up a little. It was a recorded radio interview and I meant to say hockey and soccer but I got ahead of myself and said HOCKER. I really hope they edit that out. C’mon kids! Let’s play some HOCKER. Oy. :)
Second, can I make some puppy-related observations?
1. The cuteness is killing me.

2. She slept through the night last night, yay!
3. She napped in her crate today!
4. She had her first checkup at the vet’s the other day (we went to Westboro Animal Hospital – they were excellent), and she was deemed to be a happy and healthy little pup. I would, however, like to advise anyone who is thinking about getting a puppy, to make sure the puppy you’re thinking of buying has all of her shots. Some pet stores are NOT good at keeping up and will seemingly let it slide.
5. It is still impossible to get any work done. Lor’ help me.
6. Puppies are the ultimate icebreaker, aren’t they? Yesterday I took Piper out from for a pee, and within two minutes a big burly fellow who was part of a tree-trimming brigade on my street came over to “talk dog,” chat about his chocolate lab and scratch Piper behind the ears. We live in a time in which people largely ignore each other in lineups/elevators/buses … so watching the effect puppies have on perfect strangers really is kind of amazing. Why can’t people be this friendly all of the time?
Gotta run. I need to get some actual work done while Piper is still snoozing happily on my lap.
