All the breads I’ve eaten

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: - iKnead|Recipes and Food

Pandemic baking! It’s all the rage. So is pandemic eating… at least around here. Sigh. Yesterday we picked up an order from the Ottawa Bagelshop. (Curbside pick up!) Cue the angels: I have officially entered the world of the no-knead breads. Frankly, it’s miraculous how such a lovely loaf can come together with so little […]

You don’t often hear those two words together, do you? Delicious. Butter. CHEESE can be delicious. And so can bread. Cupcakes can be delicious too (as I’ve written about recently). But butter? It does not have that kind of reputation, at least not here in Canadian grocery stores as far as I know. Sidebar: I […]

In the first post of this series I mentioned that my ill-fitting pants were a direct result of the terrible meals I was eating in the month before our move. I just wasn’t making time to feed myself properly. I almost always forgot to eat breakfast, so I’d eat one lunch at 11, and another […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
